Progress towards GAME plan!

Progress toward my GAME plan

- I have signed up for 2 days of smart board time during the month of October.
I will need to increase it to 4 times a month or once a week once the technology is up and running, and I am comfortable using the IWB. I will also need to make plans ahead of time to use on the IWB. Being prepared is a huge step in technology. Children don’t like to wait.

- I have given a survey to the children to find their different learning styles.

I will now have to organize the information and group the children by their learning styles to maximize their potential. I will start a rotation through the computer in the room during group time to expose the children to the technology according to their learning style. I will give the students free choice during Center time to choose which site they want to use.

- I am using the backwards design model with my children. I am looking at the end product and the road map I need to get there. Using that map is how I will gather the data to put together the lesson plans needed for the IWB and for the computer programs. Cennamo, Ertmer, and Ross stated, “Assessment and learning activities are closely linked and should be considered together.” So, to be a successful teacher and implement the GAME plan these items need to be linked.

  1. Wow Brandy, that is so cool to be able to start training on a smart board...You are way ahead of me on that... it's great that there are classes available for you. You are very lucky to have this technology available to you in the primary grades. Our big claim to fame this year is the 2nd grade team (that includes me) will be getting document cameras. All of our upper grades already have them. Our 1st and K teachers do not have them yet. I hope you enjoy learning about the many uses of a smart board.

  2. Having your students take part in a technology survey is a great to find out the range of their skills and exposure to technology. Many times we assume that every student have worked with a computer, since they are such a large part of our world, but I have had many students who's experience has been limited.
I think your students are really going to enjoy working with the smart board and it is going to provide you with so many more learning opportunities to enhance your learning environment.

  3. Brandy,
My students love to manipulate the SmartBoard. Your students will have a blast. Just to let you know, there are several pre-made activities and lesson plans that can be downloaded from the SmartBoard website.

  4. Brandy,

the Smartboard is a wonderful tool. Like Kelley, stated there are several activities and lesson plans that you can use. The graphics and icon library are very helpful too. I don't know of a day that goes by that I don't use my board in one way or another. Enjoy!

  5. Thanks for the advice on how to find Smart Board lessons. I found out Friday that one of our IWB is a Smart Board and one is an Activboard. I am learning the differences. We are also doing all of our assessment documentation online now. So my world will be based around computers alot! I just got an email saying I will be going in January for some more Smart Board training yeah!!
